Hello and welcome to my webpage. My name is Vanessa Garcia, and I am a 5th grade Science/Social Studies teacher at Sudderth Elementary. I was born and raised in Fort Stockton and graduated from Fort Stockton High School in 2002. I moved to Alpine in the summer of 2002 to continue my education at Sul Ros State University. In the summer of 2002 I also met my husband Diego through a college prep program I started while I was in high school named Upward Bound and we have been together ever since. After switching majors and continuing my education we moved to Odessa in 2007 and graduated from Sul Ross State Univeresity in May of 2007 with a Bachelors of Science. My major was Biology, and minor in Chemistry. While living in Odessa worked an optometrist technician for Dr. Schitosky for a year before moving to Ft. Stockton. While living in Ft. Stockton I worked an optometrist technician for Dr. Pass for a year before my husband’s job relocated us to Monahans. I started out as a classroom aide in 2010, then an opportunity came along where I was given a class of my own. I became certified through Region 18 and am in my 10th year at Sudderth Elementary. I have enjoyed all the learning and students that I have had the opportunity to teach while at Sudderth Elementary.
My husband and I celebrated our 18th anniversary in July, togther we have two wonderful boys, Diego Gabriel age 12, and Santiago Gadiel age 4 who keep us on our toes. We love the community and are happy to call Monahans home for the past 10 years. Diego is currently starting his 7th grade year at Walker Junior High. He is a current band member and plays the tuba, and is starting tennis this year. Santiago is starting Pre-K at George Cullender and is excited to meet new kids and start school.
