I graduated from Kermit High School eighth in a class of 144. I then graduated from Odessa College with an Associates in Science Degree. I later graduated after six long years from the University of Texas El Paso with a BIS in Education with a specialty in Reading. I added the certifications in Reading and Special Educations to my degree.
I began teaching in the El Paso schools in the sixth grade. I taught there for one year then moved to fourth. I taught fourth grade for four years. I taught third for two years. I then taught fifth grade for one year. I moved back to fourth for one year. I finally taught second for one year.
I resigned from teaching to care for my ailing parents. I returned to education to substitute teach second through sixth grades for five years.
I have seventeen years of experience in the classroom. I love teaching Reading, but I also enjoy teaching math, history, and geography. I am thrilled to be out of the big city and into the smaller town of Monahans. I am even happier to be teaching in the best school in the world with the best teachers to the best students! I see humor in life, and I try to pass that levity along to my students. Life is too short to be serious. Right?
